Nursing Student Scholarship FAQs

Common questions about HCAF nursing student scholarships and scholarships for healthcare workers, including who qualifies, how applications are reviewed, and what recipients commit to.

 

To remove financial and systemic barriers to healthcare education by providing scholarships, training, and mentorship that strengthen the workforce and improve care across the continuum.

HCAF supports students pursuing careers in CNA, LPN, RN, Advanced Practice Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physician Assistant (PA), and other healthcare provider pathways approved by the Board.

Applicants must:
– Be currently enrolled in an accredited healthcare program
– Demonstrate financial need
– Show commitment to patient-centered care and workforce service
– Submit a complete application by the stated deadline

Applications are reviewed by the HCAF Board using a standardized scoring rubric that evaluates academic commitment, program and career alignment, motivation and service, and financial need and scholarship impact.

Applicants will be notified after the Board completes its review process. Timeline estimates are typically shared during each scholarship cycle.

Yes. Applicants are encouraged to reapply in future cycles if they continue to meet eligibility requirements.

Recipients agree to continue serving their communities and contributing positively to the healthcare workforce for five (5) years.

Financial need is evaluated based on information provided in the application. HCAF seeks to support applicants for whom nursing student scholarship assistance would significantly impact their ability to continue or complete their education.
